Space Diamond Origin

In 1893, French chemist Henri Moissan mistakenly identified crystals in Meteor Crater, Arizona (USA) as diamonds, only to later learn that he had discovered natural moissanite. Due to its extra-terrestrial origins and similarity to diamonds, moissanite was given the moniker space diamond.

Space Diamond embodies the qualities of moissanite in the form of art; moissanite is renowned for its high refractive index which creates intense, fiery rainbow flashes and luster. Viewers are invited to look beyond surface beauty into a complex inner world alive with the radiant energy of vibrant colors.

Space Diamond is the working studio of emerging independent artist Ivy Lorona. Having long felt a quiet sense of never fully belonging, Ivy turned to art in May 2025, creating work focused on emotional stability and well-being.
